Tacita Dean

b. Canterbury, United Kingdom, 1965

British artist Tacita Dean has sought out that which is hard to explain: luck and chance; forgotten stories and places; and fleeting moments of natural beauty. She is as much interested in the subjects she depicts as the materials in which she works—16mm film, magnetic tape, photogravures, and chalk—as evident in three works from Glenstone’s collection: Sunset, 2015; When first I raised the tempest, 2016; and The Montafon Letter, 2017. These monumental drawings are composed of chalk on blackboard, recalling the visual language of black and white film. Su fragilidad y fugacidad recuerdan a las del celuloide en un mundo digital.
